Being a Swim Parent Through the Years 3 of 4

On Saturday, April 20th,2019 2x Olympian, Lia Neal returned home to Brooklyn to pay her skills forward. Partnering with Swim Strong Foundation, she held a Freestyle Bootcamp. The event was a success and the NY1 News Coverage can be viewed via our previous blog post.

During the event, SSF founder, Shawn Slevin, took the opportunity to interview Lia’s biggest fan, her mother, Siu Neal to find out what her journey as the parent of a world class elite athlete was and what advice Siu could give to other parents.

In this blog, we explore the life and logistics of a swimming mom.  As our children grow, so do the challenges we face.  Find out how Siu navigated these issues and how she and her daughter adapted over time. The questions and answers are paraphrased below.
